I watched "Arachnaphobia" once.

Last night I noticed a cobweb on my lotion, which was strange because I had used it that morning.  I wiped it off, which of course means I had to pick it up.  I then got to see the huge, fat spider that made the web, crouching next to the special bar of German white chocolate that I had been saving.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

I called Matt in to take care of the problem.  The spider was at least an inch across and fast as all get out.  Matt could not catch it, and it is still somewhere in my house.

I will still eat the chocolate bar, but I will be checking under the covers before getting into bed.

Addendum

Since I forgot to mention it last time, we are at the Curtis Hotel in Denver, Colorado.  We are here for the AUVSI conference.  AUVSI stands for "Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International," which apparently covers quite a range of products.  Matt's company makes radars, which people like to put into airplanes.  We've seen some robots, a couple little flying machines, and this pretty cool PVC submarine-type thing that was surprisingly maneuverable.  Mostly, though, I don't understand what people have made or what it's for.  This is really an engineer's event, and I am not one of those.  I am an engineer's wife, so I just smile and take the free booth offerings and give them to the baby.  We'll have to make sure and put the iRobot squishy grenade in our checked bag and not in the carry-on.

Best. Hotel. EVER.

It's got funny art:

It's got an alarm clock shaped like a car:

It's got a do-not-disturb sign that means serious business:

And it's got awesome freebies, like a fresh-baked cookie upon check-in and tiny containers of Neutrogena face wash and lotion:

Also, they have an entire library of board games and the elevator does funny voices.  Do I love it here?  Yes I do.

Trouble with spelling.

"Goodgies" is an all encompassing term meaning both nephews and nieces because "nieces and nephews" is just cumbersome.  Since it's a made up word, though, I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right.  Maybe it should be goojies.  Or Gudgies?  Perhaps guwjees.

Help me out, folks.

So confused...

We spent a week at my mom's house.  Due to some home plumbing skills, her kitchen sink has hot water on the cold side and cold water on the hot side.  I now have no idea how to use my own sink.  I've been drinking lukewarm water ever since I got back.

My masterpiece.

I'm pretty sure everybody is a poet.  Everyone I know feels passion about something or other, and poetry is pretty much just putting words to those feelings.

Very few people I know are good poets.  That being said, here is a poem I wrote just now, with no forethought whatsoever.

TITLE GOES HERE

The stars were
SHINY
and not at all
LUMPY.
Quite the opposite of
mashed potatoes.
Also I question the deliciousness of stars,
whereas potatoes
(particularly mashed ones)
are undeniably
TASTY.

Coming soon:  more like this.

In which I predict the future.

While we were gone last week, our garden produced copious amounts of large zucchini.  We aren't sure what to do with it all, but now we're going to spend a week in Washington visiting my folks.  When we get back I'm sure that the zucchini will have moved in.  I'll find some in the bed, perhaps in the shower, using my razor.
